Margin vs Target Reporting

How can I track consultant performance against target in Power BI?

Understanding your key financial metrics is fundamental to assessing how a recruitment business is really performing, and to making sound strategic decisions about its future. Needlestack builds bespoke Microsoft Power BI reports for the recruitment sector, generally connected to your CRM and, where useful, your finance system. That gives near real-time information and removes any need to maintain complex Excel spreadsheets.

A margin versus target page is one of the most widely used examples. It shows each consultant’s performance against their agreed targets, so you can see exactly who is doing well and who may need some assistance to reach acceptable results.

What the page includes
  • Headline values across the top of the page, with figures colour-coded red, amber or green against target for the users and period you select. Green is on target or better; you set your own thresholds for what counts as amber (near target) and red (below target).
  • Tables, trends and leaderboard information for individuals, groups or clients, depending on the viewer’s preference.
  • A table that drills down to weekly values.
  • A trend graph showing clearly whether you have an improving or deteriorating picture to manage.
  • Three leaderboards showing the best-performing consultant, group and client over your chosen period.
Filtering to the period that matters

If you are only interested in one particular time slice, such as a single month, select it on the page and every other value adjusts to that selection. Multiple periods can be selected together using CTRL-click, which makes period-on-period comparison quick.
